The FaceApp How to use the popular social media photo editor app

Update: FaceApp has now been updated to add additional filters, but you will have to pay for each using Pro mode. Read on to learn about FaceApp and what new features are included.

If your social media feed is full of old and small images and gender swaps for your friends – relax, it’s just a facepack. This is a popular free photo editor app that can change your look permanently with the push of a button.

FaceApp can create some realistic images of yourself, your friends and family by changing your gender, your smile or aging / de-aging.

Best of all it’s free, although some features are unlocked behind a firewall so you won’t be able to do everything with a facepack without paying extra. There was also concern about security and privacy about collecting app data, so read if FacePack is safe to use.

But if you are excited to play with photos of yourself and / or your friends, read below and how to download and how to use Facepack.

How to download FaceApp
You’ll be able to find FaceApp on both Android and iOS – you can download it directly from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Download it just like any other app. To download the app, you have to enter your password or register your fingerprint.

How to use FaceApp
The FaceApp interface is easy to use and will allow you to edit all new selfies taken inside the app’s camera or old photos already on your phone.

It is easy to do either from the Facebook home screen. You can select an image by pressing “All Pictures” at the bottom of the screen or tying your face to take a picture inside the app camera.

The image you select will start on a filter called Basic, but if you scroll to the right, you will have options like Smile, Smile 2, Spark, Old, Young, Female and Male.

Both smile options will open your mouth and include some teeth, while the spark softens your skin tone. There are also male and female options to give you more masculine or feminine features.

The funniest options are old and young, which will give you wrinkles or make you look like a child.

If you scroll to the right, you will also get options to create GIFs and collages for your photos so that you can show multiple edited images in one edited image.

How to share faceapp photo
Once you create a masterpiece, sharing icons will appear below the image. The down arrow at the bottom allows you to download the image while there are also options for posting on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

There is also an option to share via other apps such as WhatsApp and messaging platforms.

What should I pay?
There was always a payment option for FaceApp, but originally it did not provide many features through the free version of the app. On FaceApp 3.4 the app has been updated through more filters of elegance and beauty, but you will have to pay to access it.

The new filters will allow you to soften your skin tone, give your hair a face or even give Kwai a more exciting look.

The new features cost $ 20 (around £ 15) when the professional version of the app was originally listed for £ 3.99 / $ 3.99. The upgrade will also remove ads and let you remove watermarks from beneath images, but they are still expensive.

To pay for this, you go to the Settings section of the app and press the Buy button. The app will redirect you to the Google Play Store or App Store to help you complete your purchase.
